How I went from clueless newbie to one of the first players to reach level 50
How it all began...
When a friend of mine got me a beta invite to SWTOR in August 2011, I wasn't exactly new to MMORPGs. Maybe it was because most early phase players were real veteran players, but I always felt like I was lacking behind the curve when it came to leveling my characters. It seemed as if I either was stuck doing the wrong missions or that somehow they managed to get more out of their characters.
I decided that this time I wouldn't just think 'It's just a game' and shrug my shoulders. This time I wanted to be the one who posted /played times at level 50 on forums, rather than be the one that reads about the success of others.
How I did my research...
So while everyone else was (supposedly) busy finding bugs in the game, I went ahead to do the math: Which missions take how long? How much experience do they yield? What value were the rewards I received? What was the average return I got from trade skills? Given that it was only beta I had to redo pretty much all of my calculations later on, but once I had the system down, things went rather smoothly.
How I decided to write a guide...
You can imagine my surprise when it turned out that you could actually reach level 50 in a single week. Level 50. In 7 days! That was A LOT faster than anything I had hoped for. This was a little too big for just 15 minutes of Internet fame. Thus, I decided to create my own guide, based on everything I learned through months of testing and research. Every single note I took down about missions, equipment sources, trade skills strategies, crew management, PvP – literally, all my notes – I turned into a single, easy-access reference.

Some of the tricks I found might sound bizarre or impossible, but to tell you the truth - I didn't expect everything I tried to work as well. It just so happened that out of all the leveling methods I could think of, these were the ones that proved effective and literally took me to the level cap in a single week.

What did I include in the guide?
Here's an excerpt of some of the customized strategies that I incorporated in the guide:
- Leveling - Leveling strategies and tips to hit level 50 in 7 days, such as what the best exp-yielding missions and leveling locations are. In addition, every tweak I came across that speeded up progression is included with explanations on how to apply them.
- Credits - Money-making methods that have helped me earn heaps of credits (At this point I have literally more than I could sensibly spend on my main or any alt characters). - Datacrons - Having extra stats actually helps a lot with leveling. You can easily avoid dying when up against high level mobs – which is something you'll want to do for a maximum gain of experience per hour. Thus, in my SWTOR guide, you'll get a full listing of where the datacrons are hidden and the exact steps to complete each puzzle you'll encounter before being able to get to the datacrons. - Classes - With so many different classes and advanced classes available to choose from I took the liberty to test out all of them. That is, since I was going to make my leveling techniques available to the public, I might as well test things out for individual classes and make that available as well - all in one go. - Flash points - Never underestimate the value of flash points when it comes to leveling up. First of all, you can queue up to join flash points from anywhere. Which basically means you can continue to level up while waiting. Secondly, successfully completing flash points earns you experience and rewards. Some of the rewards are highly useful for leveling. So, read up on the strategies and recommendations I found to be effective when it comes to quickly and effectively win flash points. Other than flash points being fun, it all adds up to your leveling progression.
- Equipment - One of the things that us gamers may overlook when attempting to level up quickly is in fact equipment. Although it may sound just like extras, having suitable equipment, especially for your current level and the mobs you go up against, makes leveling a lot easier. In this SWTOR guide, I've written a chapter dedicated to only equipment and how to go about obtaining the best for your character. You could refer to the chapter to discover where and how exactly to obtain epic light-sabers and blasters .
